The stairway to success....

Freshman/Sophomore

1. Concentrate on your academics throughout high school. Take Honors or Advanced Placement Courses if available. Keep your grades up! Visit the NCAA web site for information on the College Bound Student Athlete.

2. Get on a good premier team. Find a good coach who has worked with players who advanced to the college level. To find a listing of Premier teams in your area check out Gotsoccer.com

3. Aim at making high school varsity as a sophomore.

4. Post your Premier and High School schedule on Soccerhead.

5. Tryout for Olympic Development Program...Don't worry if you don't make it. You can find out tryout information from your local state association at Gotsoccer.com. Check out our Message Board for articles related to ODP.

6. Go to a summer camp which is run by a college coach or where college coaches are coaching.

7.Have fun!

Soccerhead would like to thank Jim McQueen from Akron, Ohio, who submitted many of these ideas in his article entitled, "So you want to continue playing soccer in college?" Click here to read the entire article.
