Wayne Mones -
Head Coach Wayne Mones begins his 6th year as coach of the Yankee United Heat U-16 women premier team. Between 1994 and 1998 the Heat have won an overall record of 158-24-26 while winning the Eastern Regional Championship in '98 and the Connecticut Open Cup in '95 & '98. Mones also coaches the Western Connecticut State University Men Team for the past 12 years. During this time his teams have earned 8 tournament berths in 11 years compiling a record of 168-68-18 winning the Little East Conference in '95 & '96 while garnering a New England Championship in '92. Mones, who was named Coach of the Year in '92 is the All Time winningest coach in Western Connecticut State University history and has never had a losing season.
Prior to his current stint at Western, Mones was the Head Coach at Central Catholic High School in Norwalk for 9 years. His teams compiled an overall record of 86-54-18 winning 3 WCC titles while qualifying for the State Tournament for 7 consecutive years.
Coach Mones has also coached successfully numerous Connecticut Junior Soccer State and Premier teams over the 11 years. His boys U-16 Newtown and U-19 Reading Premier team won Open Cup champions. His girls Trumbull Stinger travel team from U-9 to U-12 won 5 state championships while his boy U-12 travel team won the state championship.
As a college player Mones was a starting defender for coach Joe Mussane in '74 and '75. He earned All Yankee Conference recognition for his play as his teams qualified for the NCAA tournament in '74 & '75.
Coach Mones professionally has worked as a guidance counselor for the past 20 years at Brian McMahon H.S. in Norwalk and lives in Trumbull CT with his wife Lynn, his 3 children Megan, Matthew, Marc and dog Mac.
